The Atoms!

Class of '63 you can do it!  Ask your grandchildren how it works.  It may be like that first day of school thing - a little anxious/excited, but you'll be just fine.  We'll walk with you to the internet highway and help you get on the bus and even help you send an email or surf the web.  We just want to know how you are doing, where you have been, see if you can come out and play, meet some nice people, maybe make a new friend, or at this age help an ole friend.  All things your Mother wanted for you.  You DO NOT need to leave your email address unless you would like to.  The security code required to use the guestbook is there for the security of you and our alumni website.  Lastly, if you leave a message at the guestbook page and later want to have it removed for any reason just send a message at the "Contact Us" page and we will remove it.  You can post a new message later and you are welcome to post multiple messages.  No problem!

Hello all!

My husband, Don (Class of '61), and I have been to most but not all of the Class of '63 reunions. They're so much fun! We're really fortunate to have an active reunion committee to keep us going. It was a great idea to invite the classes around us. Don's class has only had one reunion.

I was able to catch up with Cathy and Claire through this guestbook. They were good friends in 7th grade. I see that my sister, Pat, signed in, too.

Sorry about the name confusion. I was Genie at AHS, but I've used my first name, Grace, for lots of years now. I'm still Genie to family and old friends, so I just answer to either one (or to "Mom" or "Granny") ...

Hope to see you in October.

Genie

Yes, I know--I'm not class of '63.  I ended up graduating from Woodson '64.  But with Karen Webster and Nancy McAdams as my two neighbors, and with my older brother Mike, Annandale '60, I knew many of you.  I'm hoping to come to at least one event of the reunion (thanks Nancy for checking out the possibility of this for me) and look forward to seeing those of you I knew.

I live in Holmes Run Acres now--next to the house Jim Mann (another Woodson '64) lived in.  The Randas lived across the street from me--Mrs. Randa was still here when we moved in in 1985.  So I've seen a few of you, Karen, Nancy, of course, Marilyn Moore, over the years.

Jerry,
We have spoken many times re this web site you have spent so much time developing and you deserve all the accolades we can all give you for your terrific efforts. I agree with Jim Avery's comments about looking at the site every week to see what is new and updated. Judy & I will be there in October (yes we will leave sunny Florida for a too short visit) and look forward to seeing all of those classmates and friends who have been attending regularly but especially those who haven't come for a while and those who have never been back for this event. I just wish we had this site when I Chaired the 35th Reunion while we were still in the area. Great job to the Committee.

Hello Everyone,

My twin sister Claire and I are hoping to come to the reunion of what we consider OUR class, though we moved to Atlanta in the middleof our junior year.  Jerry says we still qualify as class members.  It will be so great to see all of our buddies from so long ago, and see whom we remember and who remembers us!

I can't believe I found this website.  My twin sister Cathy and I went to AHS for 9nth, 10th and half of 11th grade, then moved to Atlanta.  We were pals with Marsha Daugherty, Pre Scull, Vera Libeau.  Remember French class:  Le ver vert va vers la verre verte?  We had a crush on Jim Avery!

Lived across the street from AHS for years on Pine Dr or DAVIAN PLACE. Attended St. Michaels and then AHS--played Football,Wrestled et al.
FFX built Lee and we had to relocate. Loved AHS.
I also loved a little girl named Joyce Chittum who lived up the street for many years. Was too young and shy to tell her so but I think she really liked me. Broke my heart to move and never saw her again. My best friend then was Kenny Nolan (Biggs) great BB player.
I graduated from Lee in '62 and then to Air Force.
Returned to area after Germany and overseas.
Attended several colleges-acted in many plays-
Now own and operate Kitchen remodeling and

Jerry--this whole site is so amazing--we are all so lucky and I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am.  Ive been in NJ for 36 years--taught high school health and pe for 33 years in various states.  Retired to my old job of teaching pre-school survival swimming 3 days a week--I feel lucky to have loved all my jobs!  Still playing golf every chance I get--"retired life is very busy and lots of fun.  Live close to the "shore"(NJ word for beach) and mts.  Have been remarried for 20 years--have one son and grandson.  Life is good!  REALLY hope to hear from classmates and looking forward to Oct.

Ever since Jerry Mullins introduced me to the AHS website, I have been a regular visitor.  Every week there is something different--happy/ funny, sad/ moving, memorable/ unusual.  Even my kids think it's great, and that is really a compliment, Jerry!  I have been able to reconnect with several friends "lost" for 45 years.  Nancy and I seem to have gotten "stuck" in Boston ever since I left the Army in 1971 and returned to grad school.  However, we are really looking forward to coming back to my home state of Virginia for our 45th!  See you then. . .

What a great feeling to connect with a time and place I left behind. You committee workers have done a very generous thing - makes me feel young again!  When Jerry called I went straight to the yearbook and now I'm hooked - I found Paula Tonks!
Now, where in the world is Sandy Martin, Sue Shellington, Nancy Pruett, Donna Young....etc.  And, Lois Travalena - you were so great to keep me in the loop. Jerry, you're going straight to Heaven.
Love to all.

Congratulations, Class of '63 - 'hope someone does as good a job maintaining the Site for the coming years! I'd have been Class of '65, but Dad was transferred at the end of our Junior year after 13 years in Columbia Pines. I was back to D.C for law school (Georgetown '72) before moving to practice in Ct.. I'm now on the faculty of NJIT  (New Jersey Institute of Technology) in Newark  and remembering the fun times at AHS. Our AHS productions of KNIGHTS OF SONG and ...BIRDIE set me up for a lot of roles to follow. (I wonder if anyone ever recorded either that early? I collect theatre recordings but have never been able to find anything from KNIGHTS OF SONG - has anyone else?)

My husband and I currently divide our time between Dallas and Alpine, Texas (about 25 miles from Marfa-where "Giant" was filmed).
I would enjoy hearing from Kerry Quinn, Nancy Pruett and Jane Anderson ( or anyone else I was acquainted with).  In particular I would like to catch up with Gail Wanman and Bob Downey.  We were in middleschool in Heidelberg, Germany and then Annandale.
I suspect that I have been acquainted with them longer than anyone I know.
In the meantime...

Hello to all at AHS and the Class of '63.  I've just had a long talk with Jerry Mullins and he has done a great job with this web site.  I'm not a computer person but he has made this a secure site to keep out all those hackers and people who screw with other's computers with viruses, worms, etc.  So don't be shy, log on and send a message.
I've not been to any of the previous reunions but after talking with Jerry and Gary Plaugher from the Class of '64, it has renewed some good memories and I hope to attend the reunion in October.
But let's not wait until then to catch up, send an e-mail anytime.  I might not remember everyone but there are a lot of you that I do.
Let's remember some of those good times and here's one to get it started:  Who was it that gave the signal for everyone the shout "PARNELL" as loud as they could during his class ?
Hope to hear from some of you.

Thanks for inviting the class of '65 to share your reunion festivities.  Having alum from '61 -'65 will make the experience even more fun and rewarding.  As the "youngest" of the classes, it will be a treat to reconnect with the folks we looked up to for three years!  Hope to see you all there.  (Terrific web site, Jerry).

Hi Annandale HS grads.  Wow, what a website.  Something unique and useful of which to be proud.  It is nice to know that our group has people, leaders as well as worker-bees, willing to contribute their time and talent to this www.
Clicking throught the various clickables was a thrill.  I no longer have to buy the Time Life Cd's series to relax and feel good about from whence we came, where we have gone and what we have become.  The AHS website is like a trip through memory lane.  I have often thought about many of my friends and classmates throughtout the years and am delighted to find out about our many, fullfilling lives.  Also wonder about those of us who did not get a chance to live a long and meaningful life, especially when I go to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in DC.  I plan to dig through my memoribelia and get some appropriate and/or unique stuff into the Webmaster for submission.

Your Reunion Committee is committed to hosting an opportunity for us to mix and mingle at the most reasonable rate we can negotiate.

Please put it on your calendar!  And see what the Hotel looks like under the tab... "Reunion Venue."

Hi, Everyone.  Got a call from Tom Swann a couple of days ago checking to see what I was doing around the first week in October.  Looks like I'm going to our class reunion.  I'm looking forward to it!  I just lost my wife Gwen, my sweetheart of forty years, to lingering health issues.  So I am just trying to adjust to all that goes with losing the best thing I ever had in my life.  It has been ten years since I was in Virginia last, so I look forward to seeing old friends and places.  I'll be traveling there from Salt Lake City on a BMW K1200 LT road bike.  So I'm kind of looking forward to that.  See you then,  Rick

Hi Classmates!  I am excited about the reunion in October.  I have been out of touch for a few years because a temporary" two year at the most" job transfer has now turned into six years.  Living in Destin,Florida has been like a dream.  This is the most beautiful place in the world.  Everything is wonderful, except the hurricanes.  We want to move back to Tennessee to be closer to kids and grandkids.  I remember our senior year, the Mill Creek Park bunch, prom and the beach with Barb Bennett.  I have lost touch with B.J. Johnson, Patty Gass, Sara Mendelson and all of my AHS friends.  So looking forward to seeing and renewing old friendships in October.  Thanks to Jerry Mullins for his time and effort in putting this website up; and to Tom Paridise for his email updates.  For now, I'm just a Florida Parrot Head.  Gigi

That was me, between Lightfoot and Libeau, Paula Levitt. I sang in the chorus, took a lot of Spanish and some Russian, and dated Roger Goldstein. Judi Morris, now Judith Claremon, was my best gal pal. Roger, Judith and I have been writing one another a daily email since 1995. It has become a three-handed journal. Sometimes thoughtful, often just a few remarks about our individual days. They are the keepers of my childhood memories. They have known me longer than any other non-family members. I hope that this is what the rest of you are for one another, conduits back to a safer place, a place of idealism and promise. I have read that 1963 was the end of the 50's. I agree with that thought. We have lived through a lot. We knew each other at the beginning. I wish you all every happiness and the joy and comfort of long, long friendships. Paula Levitt Walborsky
